This is a terrible question with only one obvious answer.

The performance package includes the upgraded Brmbo brakes front and rear, right?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:05 |

‘Stang- Because Murica and V8. And also don't get it in white. It's kinda meh in white.

Stick with what you own already?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:08 |

V8 Mustang always. I mean common. Is this even a choice?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:10 |

Man, American monies don’t buy you much do they. In dollars the Mustang. In the almighty Pound I’d get the M235i since that is what matches up to the Mustang GT price wise, here in Blighty.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:11 |

Mustang. A V8 and interior space.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:12 |

MUSTANG
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:14 |

I sat in both, and while my vote here is Mustang, the 2-series has just as much interior space.

Does the 228i come with a LSD?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:18 |
|
What? no... take grandma out for a nice lunch. then buy a mustang
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:19 |

Unfortunately the LSD is only an option on the M235i and it’s installed at the port for $3500 extra. Can’t get it on the 228i.

For $40k you can buy these better things:
Alfa Romeo Stepnose Sprint GT
E30 M3
E9X M3
E46 M3
E60 M5
Z4M Coupe
air-cooled 911 (!!!)
E28 M5
R32 GTR
any STi
a 60’s Mustang
any Lotus Elan
Cayman S
probably a 997
C2
C5 Z06
C6 Z06
any Miata
and many more

How about something in a dealer showroom for under $40k with a warranty?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:25 |
|
how about this: you only spend $30k and use the other 10 for anything that might go wrong?
You can still get most of that list. And most of them are much better.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:25 |

Between the two, the Mustang will be faster, sound better, and be better at picking up dudes. The Beemer will get better MPGs, ride and handle better, and be much better at picking up babes.
You’ll probably be able to find a Mustang close enough to your liking on the lot, the Beemer will need ordered. You could do Euro delivery though.

I’d go full America.

Casting my vote (err my girlfriend’s vote). Negotiated a $35K price (sans tax) down from the $38.5K MSRP build. M sport, estoril blue, leather seats, heated front seats, MT.
I have driven the 2015 Mustang; great looking car, decent performer. Bloated, terrible interior bits, really only a option if you must pony car.

I’ve already owned 6 of those on your list. Or variations close enough to them. E46 M3 sized rear seats are required. The R32 GTR is very interesting but won’t be paying cash.

No shit. What dealer was this?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:34 |

I should also mention its a Dinan tune away from respectable power.

please name the six, I’m confident I can still name a few cars for $30k with the required criteria that are cooler/more fun/generally better than the two in the pole.

Well this bicycle dealer can fix you up with this very nice bicycle for less than $10,000... and it comes with a warranty!

Buy a used Ford Focus Wagon with a manual?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:39 |
|
You would think a track pack would include a LSD and what they charge for one the M235i is also ridiculous. The 2015 Mustang GT just one another fan.

Stevens Creek BMW in Santa Clara, CA. Technically only knocked down ~$2K. We were able to additionally get a new graduate discount plus piece of mind after a botched initial order straight from Germany (auto instead of MT).
Highly recommend the salesman we worked with, very professional and a true car guy. My gf has been emailing back and forth about a possible 2M deposit.

This survey needs a 3rd ‘cheapskate’ option like “2007 Ford Focus wagon for $5000 and use the other $35,000 for paying down debt/partying/buying a house in Detroit”.

Apples to oranges. List new things. =P
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:45 |
|
why
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:50 |
|
The Mustang wins by a country mile, as covered by a baseball thrown by a Bald Eagle while eating apple pie.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:52 |
|
E36 M3, E46 M3, Z4 Coupe, C5 FRC, STI, and have driven a handful of other cars on your list that don’t fit my requirements (Cayman, Miata, Elan).
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:54 |

I sat in both as well, the 2 seemed smaller to me.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:56 |
|
Because that was the basis of the initial question asked vs the OP. He is comparing two new cars. Perhaps he wants a new car.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 16:57 |

much better

From Car and Driver :
2-series:
Front: 52 cubic feet, Rear: 37 cubic feet.
2015 Mustang:
Front: 55 cubic feet, rear: 32 cubic feet
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:03 |
|
Ok. I said it seemed smaller. I don't really care I wouldn't buy either.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:04 |
|
So these are the cars you should buy instead:
E30 M3
E9x M3
E60 M5
E28 M5
That Alfa Stepnose
old-ass mustang that is way cooler than a new one
air-cooled 911 (seriously wtf!!!!)
pretty sure all of those are more fun to drive than the new cars
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:05 |
|
but why
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:07 |
|
Camaro SS 1LE
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:07 |
|
Can’t finance any of those at a decent rate other than an E9X M3. Plus I don’t want 15 MPG. Other suggestions?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:09 |
|
Wouldn’t have been a bad option if it wasn’t for the 2016. I much prefer the new design. Also may not have that long to wait.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:28 |
|
AE86 GTS Hatch. You can find a clean, stock example for around $7-8k. Almost (if not just as) fun to drive as the E30.
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:38 |
|
Get something cheap to hold you over until the new car comes out?
![]() 05/19/2015 at 17:49 |

Yeah. That may be the plan.

Irrelevant.
